Enjoy Sport
Sports photography doesn’t simply mean clicking a button and getting the photo to come out in focus. It also means wrestling with adverse lighting conditions, unwanted shadow, or capturing action at speed. And it’s not only this, the photographer also has to be able to make the right choices and select images with agility and precision. And what’s more still: the photo has to convey something to us, it should elicit our enjoyment. The enjoyment and contemplation of sport.
Beyond the technical aspect, which facilitates the finished product, the image must also capture our attention and get us to stop and look, for more than just a few brief seconds, before going on to view the next, whether it be due to the evocation, the message, the framing of action in its precise instant, or simply because it appeals to us. The photograph is to be savoured. It signifies the best result from the work of 7 photos in tens of different sporting events. Each of these photos signifies the difficult work of its creator, but in the end the technique, creativity and intuition of each one to attain the desired objective: to make us enjoy watching. Enjoy Sport…
The exhibition presents a selection of the best work of the students of the Specialisation in Sports Photography Course 2017/2018 instituted at the IEFC.
